Salvation Farms’ mission is to build increased resilience in Vermont’s food system through agricultural surplus management by reducing food loss on farms, increasing the use of locally grown foods, and fostering appreciation for Vermont’s agricultural heritage and future. This Critical Issue Fund grant will support scaling of the Vermont Commodity Program (VCP), which is a food recovery model to reduce food loss farms and support needy communities. The VCP is designed to serve farmers, individuals in transition, employers in the food and manufacturing sectors, and charitable or institutional food sites serving nutritionally insecure individuals.
