ReFED, a Critical Issue Fund grantee since 2015, is a collaboration of over 30 business, non-profit, foundation and government leaders committed to reducing U.S. food waste. The initiative resulted in the release of A Roadmap to Reduce U.S Food Waste by 20%, the first-ever national economic analysis and action-oriented study across business, non-profit, philanthropy and government sectors. The report found that 63 million tons of food go to waste in the United States on an annual basis, at a cost of $218 billion

In December 2016, ReFED released the Foundation Action Guide, which builds on Roadmap to provide an overview of the current funding landscape, highlighting key solutions, and demonstrating how food waste initiatives enable foundations to achieve a variety of philanthropic objectives.

We encourage you to download both reports and review the interesting findings!
